Meet Stephanie

Katie and Ed came to us wanting to plan their destination wedding The Griffin House, one of our favorite spots in Hood River. We’ve spotlighted this venue on our blog before and to this day still love every chance we have go back. The Griffin House is a unique and special venue here in Oregon, and it’s perfect for couples wanting a vibrant but natural, charming style.

At a venue like The Griffin House, couples can add as much or as little design and decor as they want. Regardless of how much you add your personalized touch to The Griffin House, weddings are always stunning. What we loved the most about Katie and Ed’s wedding day was how simple their wedding design was and how well they incorporated their personality throughout the entire event. Everything felt effortlessly seamless and we had the best time bringing their vision to life!

Vibrant, Natural, and Charming – A Classic Wedding at The Griffin House

When we started planning with this awesome couple, they made one thing clear. They wanted to spend a lot of time with their loved ones and prioritize the party! Which, they definitely did. Katie and Ed’s wedding started with a slow morning filled with sweet gifts and love letters. The couple shared the sweetest first look before inviting their adorable pup to say hello — we love when couples bring their beloved fur babies along throughout their day! We have to say, their dog was for sure ready for the cameras.

The weather was absolutely beautiful, and guests settled in for a romantic wedding ceremony overlooking the iconic Columbia River Gorge. The ceremony design included a unique arch-shaped ground floral installation that felt as though the bride and groom were standing in a garden. After tying the knot, the newlyweds signed their marriage papers with wide smiles and bright eyes. Guests were treated to delicious cocktails from a vintage airstream while we grabbed photos of the bridal party, family, and of course the couple.

As guests enjoyed the cocktail hour, we snuck Katie and Ed away for some magical golden hour photos overlooking the gorge. The sun was slowly setting behind the mountains, resulting in the most stunning golden hour bridals. After a fun photo session, it was time to get the party started. Dinner was great but the lovebirds were itching to hit the dance floor!

Once the sun set and the dance floor filled up, it was time to party. And the party didn’t stop! Guests had the best time throwing on fun glasses and dancing around in circles to some great music. The dancing continued until it was announced that some late-night McDonald’s had arrived — Katie and Ed’s favorite! Everyone was loving the burgers and it was the perfect post-dance party snack.

Carrying Your Design Throughout The Day

When putting together the details for your wedding day, we always recommend trying to carry your overall design throughout the day from start to finish. Katie and Ed’s wedding at The Griffin House is the perfect example and inspiration for how to do just that! It all started with their simple and romantic wedding ceremony where we introduced the garden-style design, and blended into to the reception hall that was flooded with luscious greenery and fresh flowers. The wedding design helped guests travel through each part of the day with ease.

We also love how simple we kept the general design. From invitations with minimal blue details to modern signage in the same hues, Katie and Ed knew how to bring their wedding day to life. Out of all the details the couple included, our favorite had to be the installations inside the reception tent. The bride and groom wanted their reception to feel whimsical and romantic, and we were able to execute that vibe through greenery along the string lights as well as lush hanging floral wreaths.

At a venue like The Griffin House, you don’t need to do a lot to make your wedding beautiful. Simply carrying your wedding design from point A to point B of your day will make a huge impact.

This classy wedding at The Griffin House was a great reminder of how much FUN a wedding day can be, and should be! These two focused on their love and spending time with their favorite people. If you’re ready to start planning your wedding day be sure to send us an inquiry and share your dreams with us. We would love to help you bring your big day to life!
