Hearing love stories is always so exciting. Couples meet and fall in love in many ways, and Kelle and Michael’s story is one that we are seeing more and more often – they’re a Tinder success story! We consider ourselves so lucky that we were a part of Kelle and Michael’s wedding at Tin Roof Barn.
Believe it or not, Kelle and Michael met on the Tinder app and immediately clicked. In fact, before actually meeting up they matched on every single dating site known. Their first date was in 2017, and after a few months of getting to know each other, they were soon inseparable. Michael popped the question when they were in Seabrook, Washington on the leap day of 2020. They have so many sweet memories in Seabrook making it the perfect location for their engagement!
Fast forward to October 2020, when Kelle and Michael imagined they’d celebrate their long-awaited wedding day. Unfortunately, Covid brought all plans to a halt and forced them to make some changes. Kelle and Michael took this extra time and really dove into their creative sides! Kelle spent hours scouring Pinterest really narrowing down the style, color scheme, and overall vibe they wanted for their wedding day. We were obsessed when Kelle told us that out of all the ideas they came across – the one that stood out the most was having the groom and groomsmen in colored suits! Michael chose an olive green suit and from there they incorporated bright orange, pinks, and a ton of green into their floral design. They leaned into the fall color scheme and we are SO happy they did. The mustard yellow napkins were unreal, it felt so much like Kelle and Michael!
Kelle and Michael didn’t want to focus too much on including traditional moments into their wedding day. They wanted guests to attend their wedding and focus on their love! They hired Kelle’s youth pastor and loved how comforting it was to invite someone who played a major part in her young life to be there for a monumental moment in her adult life. She followed her mom’s bridesmaid tradition of having a friend from each period of her life as part of the wedding party. She asked a friend from kindergarten, middle and high school, her early 20’s, and more. What a sweet and special idea!
The venue Kelle and Michael chose really spoke for itself – The Tin Roof Barn is one of our all-time favorites for a reason! Its natural beauty allows couples to work with the space and customize it to feel like them. They didn’t need to add too many details to make it feel like the perfect setting.
Kelle and Michael hired a professional florist to help bring their floral dreams to life, but when it came to other details they brought in a little DIY moment. They made all their signage themselves and were very intentional with the purpose of each sign and how they were incorporated. Additionally, Kelle and Michael made their own table numbers, had guests sign their favorite Beatles record, and even learned how to screen-print their own tote bags for guests coming in from out of town – how cool is that? They even filled these bags with all sorts of goodies, and to this day Kelle and Michael still hear from their friends every time they use the bag!
We encourage our couples to trust their wedding day vendors, and boy did Kelle and Michael take that seriously. Sharing their vision with everyone from caterers, their photographer, to their florist, their wedding day was a cohesive event that went off without a hitch. Their florist Blaire from Trellis Flowers brought Kelle’s visions to life and even threw in a few surprises here and there! Kelle’s biggest advice to future brides on flowers was “Don’t skimp out! … They do make a big difference” and we couldn’t agree more. Your wedding vendors want your wedding day to be the best event of your life, so don’t be afraid to let go, trust the professionals, and have fun!
Seeing Kelle and Michael’s ear-to-ear smiles on the day of their wedding made every moment of planning their wedding even more special. The relationship we build with our couples is SO important to us. We want our couples to feel loved, taken care of, and ultimately like the most important people in the room at all times. We are beyond thrilled to share a few of the kind words they had to say about working with Union Event Co:
“I can’t recommend that level of coordination enough! It is so amazing to truly hand off your plans and know that your vendor has your back. Without Union Event Co, I would have been trying to corral friends and family to arrive at certain times, figure out our own timelines, learn how to fold napkins, and figure out how to schedule a variety of vendors who all work and mainly operate out of Portland. Union Event is top on our list to recommend to any friends getting married!” – Kelle & Michael
Kelle and Michael, thank you for trusting Union Event Co with your tremendously beautiful wedding at Tin Roof Barn. We had the best time getting to know the two of you and bringing your best day ever to life.
